Here is the weekend review (New Year’s Edition edition)

Weekend Ball: Evan and Rita. Evan is a friend of mine since I was 0 and Rita is his girlfriend. They currently reside in Boston, but spent the past week in Atlanta celebrating the holidays and New Year’s. It was fun to hang out with them, celebrate Hanukkah and the New Year with them, and play some golf. Good luck back in Boston, hope to see you soon!

Weekend Goat: Georgia coaching staff. An ill-prepared, over confident, and poorly coached team showed up at the beginning of the Sugar Bowl and poor coaching prevented the Dawgs from having a comeback opportunity at the end of the game as well. It is not unexpected for 18-21 year old kids to be overconfident, but it is the responsibility of the millionaire coaches to bring them back to reality, and clearly that did not happen with the Dawgs.

Quote of the weekend: I am going to pull this one from the archives of last January 1 when Vince Young, Texas quarterback, boldly stated at the Rose Bowl: “We’ll be back!”. Tomorrow the Longhorns return in a big way to play for the National Championship

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down Segment:

THUMBS UP: Howard Kalin, for negotiating heavily and getting us into the Peach Bowl at $10 a pop. Then giving the ticket lady a sad “how could this happen?” look when she said our tickets had already been used 1 hour before to let people in the game. She let us in anyways.
THUMBS UP: To the LSU flagbearers who spelled out “T-I-G-R-E-S” after a touchdown, obviously representing all the Hispanic LSU fans out there.

THUMBS DOWN: Miami fan in front of us who passed out drunk at the end of the 1st Quarter. Just like her team, she didn’t last too long.

THUMBS UP: Obnoxious, drunk Georgia fans at the Peach Bowl who yelled for the Longhorns as I passed by wearing my Texas jacket.

THUMBS DOWN: Big L Grandominico for not securing me any venison sausage during Todd’s visit

THUMBS DOWN: Howard Kalin for mooning us from the green on hole 14
THUMBS UP: Eddie, for getting the whole episode on camera
THUMBS UP: Eddie, for letting me use his driver even though I out drove him on 16 out of 18 holes.

THUMBS UP: Rita, for allowing Evan to golf with us even though he golfed the day before.
THUMBS DOWN: Jeff, for wearing jeans to play golf
THUMBS UP: Jeff, for overdressing for a night of watching football at Kelly’s

THUMBS UP: Jorge, for making reservations at Sushi Haru for us on New Year’s Eve
THUMBS DOWN: Jorge, for showing up at Sushi Huku instead of Sushi Haru on New Year’s Eve
THUMBS DOWN: To whoever took a crap causing us to leave Sushi Haru prematurely on New Year’s Eve.

THUMBS UP: Howard and John for celebrating New Year’s Eve in the tradional fashion.
THUMBS DOWN: To Jennifer Caran for harassing me on New Year’s Eve when I just wanted to spend some time with friends from out of town

THUMBS UP: To the Atlanta Falcons. Hey, they are only 0-1 in 2006 and the future is bright!

THUMBS UP: DJ Shockley, who fought to the finish in the Sugar Bowl even though he had no help from the defense. He had a spectacular year and deserves to be commended.

THUMBS UP: Ohio State, for whipping Notre Dame
