As most of you know both the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs will be competing for their respective conference championships on Saturday. In honor of this I will be bringing a new segment to the blog this week-- "Prelude to a Championship". Each day of this week I will be counting down the top 5 plays of the UGA and Texas seasons thus far starting tomorrow with number 5 and ending Friday with the top play for each team. So check back each day. Sic and Hook 'em!

Posted by Picasa Here is the weekend review:

Weekend Ball: Demario Minter, Georgia cornerback. He shut down Calvin Johnson all game long and which was a large part of why Georgia Tech only scored 7 points. This was a defensive battle, and nobody on the field played better than Minter. Georgia won 14-7.

Weekend Goat: Time. Unfortunately the long weekend has ended and time has caught up with us. The work week begins anew tomorrow.

Quote you never thought you'd hear: "I worked out so hard I had to lay down in the Trainers' room" --Jeff Hughes, after his first workout session at LA Fitness with his new trainer.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down Segment:

THUMBS UP: The Witts for hosting a great Thanksgiving feast.
THUMBS UP: Tanya, for her first Jewish Thanksgiving.
THUMBS UP: The Atlanta Falcons for adding to the Thanksgiving holiday with a win on Thanksgiving day.

THUMBS UP: Jorge "The Pink Pather" for being confident enough in his manhood to wear pink

THUMBS DOWN: Jennifer CarAn, for a lame excuse on Friday afternoon for not going out to watch the Texas-Texas A&M game(this has really become a recurring Thumbs down).

THUMBS UP: Todd, for making a delicious stromboli to celebrate the UT-A&M Game
THUMBS UP: Julie, for leaving work just to show her respect and passion for the Longhorns. THUMBS UP: Texas Longhorns, for pulling out a closer than expected game and finishing the regular season 11-0.
THUMBS DOWN: Todd Grandominico, for unreasonably attacking my spectator enthusiasm.

THUMBS UP: Eddie and Jennifer for creating a new dip which will give any dip a run for its money in the "Big Dip Off 2006."
THUMBS UP: To the Georgia Bulldogs for fighting to their 5th straight victory over in-state rival Georgia Tech.
THUMBS DOWN: To Ford Motor Company, Jeff's car has stalled 20-30 time since May. Another reason to buy Japanese.

THUMBS DOWN: To me for using this forum to "intentionally inflict pain" on Iowa State fans
THUMBS DOWN: To the Iowa State football team for "unintentionally inflicting pain" on Iowa State fans

THUMBS UP: To Howard Kalin for updating his blog frequently keeping us up to date on his travels in New Zealand
THUMBS DOWN: To Howard Kalin-- c'mon more pictures.

THUMBS UP: To Eric Nelson for successfully moving into a new house
THUMBS UP: To Gas. Prices really have come down quite a bit.

So, all Iowa State had to do was beat lowly Kansas and they'd be playing Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game. Colorado made it easy on them by losing to Nebraska on Friday. But, apparently Iowa State is more scared of Texas than I originally thought. I mean, granted, they would have been absolutely stomped by a bigger, faster, Texas team, but c'mon, losing to Kansas? Pathetic and disappointing. Maybe they need more corn in the off season? Anyways, I guess it is going to be Colorado...Hook 'em Horns! Posted by Picasa

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

What kind of music did the Pilgrims like?
Plymouth Rock

Which side of the turkey has the most feathers?
The outside

Why did they let the turkey join the band?
Because he had the drumsticks

Why did the police arrest the turkey?
They suspected it of fowl play

What's the key to a great Thanksgiving dinner?
The turKEY

What did the turkey say before it was roasted?
Boy! I'm stuffed

Posted by Picasa Here is the weekend review:

Weekend Ball: Chan Gailey. After a tumultous week at Georgia Tech, probations, weird legal decisions, and a controversial extension to his contract he led the Jackets to an improbable upset victory in the Orange Bowl against No. 3 Miami.

Weekend Goat: Well, it looked as if the Falcons defense had this one all wrapped up. They couldn't stop Tampa Bay at all in the second half and at the end of the 4th Quarter gave up 10 points in the final two minutes in the loss. But like in football, you can't call it until the whole weekend is over. And around 10 o'clock last night I ran my car into a light post outside the movie theater and busted up my front bumper. So, folks, I am the goat of the weekend.

Quote you never thought you'd hear:
"Elliott, I have your photo Cds" --Todd Grandominico, after viscously, vehemently, and violently denying for weeks he still had my cds. This quote actually started a chain of events which caused my fender bender last night.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down Segment:

THUMBS UP: Linda "MM" "Big L" Grandominico for showing up large in the ATL and hanging out with all her son's friends despite her son being there.

THUMBS UP: Georgia Bulldogs for shaking off two losses and beating Kentucky to earn a spot in the SEC Championship game.

THUMBS DOWN: Alabama, for a tough loss to Auburn.

THUMBS UP: Troy Smith, for leading the Buckeyes to victory in the last minute over much hated Michigan

THUMBS DOWN: Jennifer Caran, for a lame excuse on Saturday night (this seems to be a recurring theme).

THUMBS UP: Johanna, for making it out all 3 nights of the weekend.
THUMBS DOWN: Joanna, where the hell has she been?

THUMBS UP: Jeff and Eddie for good spirited discussion on how Greg Blue is overrated.
THUMBS UP: Brian Williams, for wearing an a scarlet and grey tie on the NBC Nightly News the day before the OSU-Michigan Game.

THUMBS DOWN: The Atlanta Falcons, for losing for the second week in a row at home. THUMBS UP: To Oklahoma and Tennessee for finally sucking the way they always should.

THUMBS UP: To Howard Kalin, who is still travelling to make his destination of New Zealand
THUMBS DOWN: To Boss, who wouldn't look Howard in the eye when he was trying to say goodbye to her.

Posted by Picasa Howard left this afternoon for his long journey to Australia and New Zealand.
Everyone wishes a safe and fun trip.

It is just me and the Boss at the house now.

Posted by Picasa Happy 80th Birthday Grandma!
Last night Grandma had family and friends around her while she spent her 80th birthday dancing and singing tunes from the 40s and 50s. The party was a huge smash and Grandma wowed everyone with her beautiful voice and fancy dance moves.

Posted by Picasa Here is the weekend review:

Weekend Ball: Vince Young
With 281 yards passing he became Texas' career total offense leader as Texas stomped Kansas 66-14 Saturday and clinched the Big 12 South (Honorable mention: Aaron Ross (pictured) who had a punt return for a 71 yard touchdown and an interception)

Weekend Goat: Georgia's defense
A defense which was supposed to be top-notch faltered against the first good offense it faced. The defense couldn't even stop Auburn on a 4th and 10 to seal the game. A very dissappointing loss for Georgia at home. My worst fears from earlier in the season of Georgia being a good but not elite team seem to have been realized.

Quote you'd never thought you'd hear:
"Thank you Steve Spurrier"...While Georgia's loss was disgusting and disgraceful, it actually does not impede us from the ultimate goal of an SEC title thanks to the "old ball coach" beating his old team, Florida, on Saturday. At least one team could get the job done. Now we better take this gift, stomp Kentucky, and beat LSU.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down Segment:

THUMBS UP: Jorge, for success in planning his first group outing to IMAX and Fritti. It was a good time.

THUMBS UP: Michelle, on her birthday suprise
THUMBS DOWN: Michelle, on apparently cheering for Auburn on Saturday. Let's hope Iowa State can somehow make the Big 12 Championship and Texas' can show them a good Southern Ass Whoopin.

THUMBS UP: Yolanda, for putting up with all our crap on Friday.

THUMBS DOWN: Jennifer Caran, for a lame excuse on Friday night. We've got a dog here and you can leave her for up to 12 hours, no problem.

THUMBS UP: Tony Greathouse, for celebrating his 30th birthday in great style, reliving the good ole days at the Righteous Room.

THUMBS DOWN: Amanda Sapp, for not saying "hello" to me soon after her arrival to the righteous room
THUMBS UP: Amanda Sapp, for getting sexually molested and not blinking an eye

THUMBS UP: Tim Russert, for getting King Abdullah of Jordan on Meet the Press; he always gets great guests.

THUMBS DOWN: The Atlanta Falcons, for losing to a 1-7 team at home. We were the one who looked like a 1-7 team. Rushing defense and passing offense yet again the downfall. Big game against Tampa Bay next Sunday now to make up for this ugly loss.

THUMBS UP: To me hopefully getting some good sleep tonight, it's been a long weekend.

Posted by Picasa So this story came up last night while in the Highlands. This guy is Swiss, and you are looking at a condom he stuffed up his nose and pulled out his mouth. Very impressive and very crazy. This took place in Monteverde, Costa Rica. We hung out with the Swiss for a few nights--obviously a fun time!

Glad to see folks came to the blog after I sent out the e-mail. I heard from many of you this was your first interaction with a blog. Let me give you a bit of blog history....Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. They became popular during the 2004 campaigns, with candidates and other interested parties starting blogs discussing the issues and throwing mud about other candidates. If you recall, Howard Dean's grassroots campaign utilized blogs heavily. Then he went nuts. Now television shows and personality as well as other celebrities use blogs. There are over 7 million in existence, mostly just people like you and me. I'll put a link for Brian Williams' blog, he is the NBC Nightly News dude and he talks about how the news gets put together each night. It is kind of interesting.

Also, please leave comments, just click on the comments link at the bottom of each blog and say something, anything. You can do it anonymously or sign in. (Hint..you can choose "other" and write in any name you like)

Okay, I am officially launching my blog now. i.e. sending out the link to folks. The strength of this blog will rely on two factors- 1. Participation. 2. My laziness (or lack thereof.). So, to encourage number one I will periodically try to ask questions of the audience. Recently this question was asked of a sampling of Americans and 37% percent said yes. So, feel free to answer, comment, or say whatever you want to the following:

Do you approve of the President's handling of his job? Posted by Picasa

Congratulations to Jay and Amanda who got engaged on Saturday! For those who don't know them, they are great people and I hope them all the best. Posted by Picasa

Hook 'em Horns! Longhorns win again...62-0. Bring on Kansas. Posted by Picasa

Goodbye to the PGA season. Todd and I said goodbye to the season yesterday as we walked for the last time down the 18th fairway at the Tour Championship. It was a spectacular spectator season going to the Wachovia Championship, Bellsouth Classic, US Open, The Open Championship (St. Andrew's-picture), and the Tour Championship. Posted by Picasa

This was the Saturday before Halloween. Todd is an Oompa Loompa and I am "Ghetto" Spider-Man. We are with the gorgeous Fanta Girls Posted by Picasa
